Last studio shoot of the year with Susan

 

A great way to close out the 2021 studio season at the Tyson studio was with Susan. Having done one shoot already earlier in the year, there was a much more experimental session.

The work with the fabric really evolved over the course of the year too.

I think next year I'm going to do more photos of my friends with their favorite cameras too.

In the end, the season ended perhaps a little early for my taste but it was still a productive year with almost 30 studio shoots on the books.

Carol returns to the studio

 

This year Carol ended up being the oldest person I photographed in the studio. We had some very productive work with the fabric this time.

Donna is very much the kind of woman I've been working on getting into the studio for this project, older, confident and self assured.

Although not the youngest person I photographed this year, close to it. She really moves well and usually does not require a lot of direction during our shoots together.

I do not usually get a chance to do figurative work during the month i'm in R.I. but this year one of my alumni who has photographed and models with me since 2004 agreed to a shoot. We found a great location along the R.I. coastline that afforded some privacy and it all come together.

I first photographed Ellen in 2003 so we have a long history together but recently we just could not seem to get in sync for a shoot, in fact i had not photographed her for three years so it was great to get back together again for a studio session.

I have not photographed three people in a long while let alone three people in a relationship, so it was a challenge but these guys were into it and I was able to bring some narrative context to the shoot.

A few times during the summer I try to make it over to my friend Deb's pool in the CWE, its a wonderful place to photograph and a beautiful setting.

A rare treat to get Aimee in the studio twice in one season and it was very productive, and fun shoot.

 Carol is in fact the "Senior Muse" and I've been photographing her longer than anyone, since 1984!

We even did some work together with the wind blown fabric and got some great work.

I did a shoot today with two of my regular models, both veterans of the studio experience.

It's been an unusually busy May for me at the studio.

Kate was a former student of mine and is now an accomplished academic in her own right along with being a busy mother. We were lucky to find a time for her to visit the studio this summer and got in a great shoot.

 Susan is another photo friend who is also another very talented photographer who I have photographed since 2005. She's been putting in a lot of work on her health and fitness and we had a great shoot together.

As with most of my shoots I also shoot 8x10, 5x7 and 4x5 sheet film, Susan has a really great presence in front of the camera.

Angela came to me in 2019 about doing a shoot, she a professional therapist and works a lot with couples and wanted to do a shoot with me. She has a podcast about sex and the body and we even did a podcast together. She's very comfortable with her body and we had a very productive shoot together.

Sarina visits the studio

 

Sarina is Kendra's sister and a professional model. We worked together back in 2015 and I was glad to get a shoot in with her. Her body art made for some interesting design considerations and she had a great presence in front of the camera.
