Bart Parker

I received news today that my teacher, mentor and friend
Bart Parker died at his home in Alabama today. Bart was
a lifelong inspiration to me and so many other
students and touched the lives of many more. No one is ever lost who is
remembered by those who keep his memory alive, I shall not
forget all that Bart did for me and I owe who I am today as an
artist to Bart and his influences. Fair winds & calm seas Mr. Parker,
 dream on you crazy dreamer.

New work from the weekends studio shoot

The shoot out at the Tyson studio this
weekend was more productive than
I thought at the time, at least eight files worth
printing 17" x 24". For these, I am printing
on the Canson Photographique Rag 310.

Books on Books

From todays shoot out at Tyson, warm enough to
still work the books. Exposing books on top of
books. Used the Fuji X100S in the multiple exposure
mode to make this one.

Still more images worth printing

Finding lots of files worth printing
from older shoots this summer, this
is one example from a shoot in
May 2013 I passed over.

Revisiting old files

I've been going thru the "top 25" edit of the Body/Text series,
after some excellent feedback while at MW SPE. I decided to
make a set of both the top 25 and the 2nd 15 on 8.5x11
paper for ease of editing. In going thru the files, I pretty much
decided my work with Judy, my model friend who died of cancer a year ago,
needs to be it's own portfolio. In light of that, this photo
is from our last shoot the August before she passed on is
especially moving for me. It's taken a year to really be able
to deal with these powerful images.

Possible Direction of the Next Portfolio

These double exposed book images without
the figure element may be the next portfolio
I'll be investigating.

Leaving the bar

It was around 11 pm when I left the tavern
and had my Fuji with me. It had just rained
and the light down the street was pretty
wonderful. I'm only now getting the feel for
this camera.

Katrina Anniversary

Today marks the 8th anniversary of hurricane Katrina coming ashore and forever changing NOLA. I arrived in NOLA 30 days after the storm and spent the next 5 years photographing its effects and the rebuilding of a city that means so much to me and my work.

photo shoot with new model

Worked with a new model today, it was way cooler inside
the Tyson studio than I think she was comfortable with. Got
4-6 images worth printing I think. With school starting
up in a few weeks, I hate to think this was the last shoot of
the season.

A bad beach day, a good photo day

Misquamicut State Beach

Fisherman's access, Matunuck

Not a great day to be at the beach unless you want to
photograph the beach under such conditions.
