This is my third blog, and this one will more generally address my photography and not include either the self portrait project or the work from my trips to Italy.

Ellen at Tyson studio
Ellen is such a terrific model, really knows how to move in response to my lighting cues. The use of the manikin may remain just an experiment, I think it adds another level of complexity to the narrative. I need to call Ellen and try to set up another shoot this fall before the weather turn too cold for Tyson.

Elisa Book-Figure Collage
Elisa is such a great model, maybe because she is also an artist (printmaker). We only seem to organize a shoot together once a year, but my work would benefit from working together more often.

A possible new direction
While working on the books that I have been "aging" in the field outside my studio, I thought about collaging in images from some of my medical scans used in the "Body, Soul and Science" portfolio. My intent was to only prep files for multi exposing images on top of them, they might be enough in and of themselves.

Susan - Tyson studio collages
Susan is such a terrific model, we have a great rapport in the studio, perhaps because we're friends and know each others work so well and for so long. This work did not turn out as well as I would have liked, the figure is too powerful and floats too much to the top. Part of the challenge of this method is to work the balance of both exposures to get the right mix of transparency.

St. Vincents Cemetery, 9th ward, NOLA
St. Vincents is a cemetery I have not worked a great deal in, mostly as its in a really crime ridden part of the lower 9th ward. It's a shame as there are some really remarkable statuary in this cemetery. Still your shooting here and hyper aware of anyone walking by, is that the guy who is going to produce a gun and rob you? It's a weird way to work in what is supposed to be a peaceful place.
